Speaker Biographies

Irvin Barash

President, Vencon Management

As President of Vencon, Barash has broad experience in the growth of enterprises and advises on the complexities and implementation of long range business planning and the management of company growth strategies.

He has been intimately involved in the solar energy and renewable energy industries since the early 1980's. Amongst such activities, Vencon has been the financial and strategic advisor to ARCO Solar, Texas Instruments, Westinghouse, and ASE Americas. Mr. Barash has been on numerous U.S. Government panels regarding the commercialization of renewable energy, and photonic technologies related to private enterprises, which have received government financing. He has been a Trustee of the Edward Teller Foundation

Between 1969 and 1972, Mr. Barash was Director of Planning and M&A with the BASF Corporation , one of the world's largest chemicals and related products businesses. He initiated, analyzed and successfully many acquisitions including Wyandotte Chemical. Between 1967 and 1969, Mr. Barash was Manager of M&A with W.R. Grace, one of the world's oldest chemicals businesses.

Mr. Barash earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, from Drexel University in 1961 and a M.B.A. from Columbia Business School in 1964.
