Kate Taylor is an Australian medical
doctor with a Masters degree in public health (international
health and health and human rights) from Johns Hopkins
University. She worked as a clinician in a range of settings
- from Aboriginal women's health in Central Australia
to infectious diseases in tertiary referral centers. Ms.
Taylor then joined McKinsey and Company, a business management
consultancy, where she served clients from financial services
to e-health on a range of strategic and organizational
issues. In 2001, she joined the World Economic Forum to
start the Global Health Initiative, working to increase
the business response to HIV, TB and malaria. Her activities
included serving as the private sector focal point for
the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria;
Stop TB; and Roll Back Malaria and at the country level
working with companies and national business organizations
in Africa, India and South East Asia to develop their
workplace programs. Ms. Taylor is currently the senior
director for policy and advocacy at the International
AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI), the first product development
public-private partnership.
