Thomas R. Gibian, Founding Partner, CEO and Managing Partner,
Emerging Capital Partners (ECP)

GibianThomas R. Gibian is responsible for forming and implementing ECP's investment strategy and managing key relationships with shareholders and portfolio companies. He also remains actively involved in the investment committee for EMP Africa Fund II PCC (Africa Fund II).

Before ECP's spinout from EMP Global (EMP), Mr. Gibian served as chief operating officer for the AIG African Infrastructure Fund (Africa Fund I), managing the daily operations of the fund and overseeing the structuring and valuation of investments.

From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Gibian served as a managing director in EMP Global's Asia Funds, which managed more than $2.8 billion in capital for investments in China, India, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand. He was the lead transaction partner for investments in India and specialized in the energy, telecommunications and infrastructure sectors.

Prior to joining EMP, he spent three years as Executive Director and Co-Head of the structured and project finance group at Goldman Sachs Asia, where he was the firm's senior representative on several groundbreaking transactions in China and Southeast Asia. Mr. Gibian joined Goldman Sachs in 1987 as a Vice President in the firm's public finance department where he was responsible for innovative transactions combining low cost tax-exempt debt and environmental remediation.
