Cynthia Hostetler, Vice President of Investment Funds, Overseas Private Investment Corporation

Cynthia HostetlerCynthia Hostetler was appointed as Vice President for Investment Funds at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) in August 2001. In this capacity, Ms. Hostetler is head of the private equity and venture capital group at OPIC and directly responsible for leading a team of 10 professionals investing in emerging markets private equity. Ms. Hostetler is responsible for over $5 billion committed to 65 funds and over 400 portfolio companies, making OPIC one of the largest investors in emerging markets private equity in the world. 

Prior to joining OPIC, Ms. Hostetler served as President (1991-2006) and member of the Board of Directors of First Manhattan Bancorporation (FMB). In addition to her bank holding company role, Ms. Hostetler also served for over eight years in a variety of positions at First Savings Bank (FSB), FMB’s primary subsidiary, including 3 years as its President and continued as a Board Member of FSB until 2006. Ms. Hostetler started her career as an attorney in the corporate/banking department of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett (STB).

Ms. Hostetler currently sits on the Eisenhower Presidential Foundation and Library Board of Directors and serves as a Trustee. She also sits on the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association Advisory Board and the Thunderbird Private Equity Center Board of Directors.

Ms. Hostetler received a JD from the University of Virginia, School of Law in 1988. She graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Southern Methodist University in 1985. While at SMU, Ms. Hostetler also received numerous awards, including the Robert H. Dedman Award for most outstanding Arts and Sciences student, the Presidential Award of Excellence and the “M” Award.
