Social Enterprise Conference: Capital for Good\u00a0

The business and investor community once questioned whether it could afford to prioritize social impact. The consensus is now clear\u2014how can businesses afford not to? The Millennial and Gen Z generations are driving trends in impact investing, using their purchasing power to demand change, and seeking employers that are socially conscious. As a result, funders and the organizations they invest in are directing their attention not only to the bottom line, but also to how business and financing models can be aligned to positively contribute to society.<\/span><\/p>

This headline event, located in the finance capital of the world, provides a unique opportunity to tap into the vibrant ecosystem of capital for impact through the lens of philanthropy, impact investing, ESG, and social venture and business examples. Social impact leaders in business, government, nonprofit, and philanthropy will speak to how they are changing the way we think about how capital is sourced and used to generate sustainable solutions to global, systemic challenges. Hear where opportunities exist to pursue future careers of impact on both the financing and implementation sides of social impact capital.<\/span><\/p>

Joel Greenblatt<\/strong> serves as managing principal and co-chief investment officer of Gotham Asset Management, the successor to Gotham Capital, an investment firm he founded in 1985. Since 1996, he has been a professor on the adjunct faculty of Columbia Business School where he teaches \u201cValue and Special Situation Investing.\u201d Mr. Greenblatt is a director of Pzena Investment Management, Inc., a global investment management firm. He formerly served on the Investment Boards of the University of Pennsylvania and the UJA Federation. Mr. Greenblatt is the author of You Can Be A Stock Market Genius (Simon & Schuster, 1997), The Little Book that Beats the Market (Wiley, 2005), The Little Book that Still Beats the Market (Wiley, 2010), and The Big Secret for the Small Investor (Random House, 2011). He is the Former Chairman of the Board (1994-1995) of Alliant Techsystems, a NYSE-listed aerospace and defense contractor. He holds a BS (1979), summa cum laude, and an MBA (1980) from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.<\/p>

Tracy Breslin<\/strong> has dedicated her career to ensuring that all students\u2013regardless of background\u2013receive a high-quality education that prepares them to succeed in school and life. Tracy brings twenty years of experience in education and nonprofit management to the executive director role at the Philadelphia Academy of School Leaders, a nonprofit organization that trains principals in Philadelphia\u2019s district, charter, and faith-based schools.\u00a0Prior to joining School Leaders, Tracy served as a talent management consultant, working with a variety of urban school districts and state departments of education on human capital initiatives including school leadership pipelines, principal supervisors, teacher effectiveness, educator evaluations, and talent management. Tracy also teaches an education leadership course at Columbia Business School.\u00a0As interim chief talent officer at Newark Public Schools, Tracy designed human capital reforms, facilitated teacher contract negotiations, and led teams to redesign educator evaluation, compensation, teacher and principal selection, and central human resources support. At the New York City Department of Education, Tracy led the Office of School Leadership to recruit, select, train, and support aspiring and current school leaders. Before that, Tracy led recruitment and admissions at New Leaders for New Schools, a national nonprofit focused on attracting and preparing outstanding school leaders.\u00a0Tracy launched her career by evaluating and designing Universal Prekindergarten programs, working in after-school programs, and facilitating professional development for educators. Tracy has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University. Private Equity Investments in Impact Investing<\/h3>

Interest by private equity investors in impact investing has recently exploded, driven by client demand. Early players in this space, such as TPG, KKR, and Bain Capital, have explored various impact and ESG strategies across their portfolios.\u00a0<\/p>
