During my fellowship with the Climate Knowledge Initiative (CKI) I worked on projects spanning critical minerals, nuclear energy, the trucking industry, and China’s solar policy, all aligned with CKI’s mission to close the information gap for the transition to net‑zero economies. I refined a nuclear energy deck and participated in a workshop with industry and government leaders, which deepened my understanding of how technological, geopolitical, and financial factors shape the sector. I completed and polished a trucking decarbonisation deck, strengthening its coverage of emissions‑reduction pathways. I also applied my research and visualisation skills to critical‑minerals and China solar projects, introducing tools like sparklines and Sankey diagrams to make complex trends more digestible. By transforming technical information into clear, compelling insights I helped business and policy leaders make informed decarbonisation decisions.

The fellowship allowed me to apply and expand skills from my Master’s in Sustainability Management and my background in economics and programming. I used R and Python to analyse datasets, compare sources, and create visuals, and I drew on coursework in Energy Markets and Financing Clean Energy to ensure technical rigour and practical relevance. Combining academic theory with hands‑on research demonstrated how classroom learning can drive real-world impact.

A significant challenge was communicating in my second language. Presenting research and writing for non‑expert audiences required continuous improvement. The CKI team’s collaborative culture and feedback sessions helped me refine my narratives and increase my confidence. Peer exchanges, such as consulting‑toolkit sessions, also provided valuable guidance.

This fellowship deepened my consulting skills, strengthened my ability to translate complex issues into accessible narratives, and affirmed my commitment to accelerating the transition to a low‑carbon future.
