Internship Description
Amali Nassereddine ’22 worked with YY Ventures, an organization that incubates and invests in social entrepreneurs in Bangladesh. Her project was centered around the entrepreneurship ecosystem and the global social business movement. The primary purpose of her role was to conduct research on investment and impact thesis and develop the seed fund foundation structure.
"This summer, I worked to identify ways that ESG strategies can be applied to entrepreneurial initiatives in Bangladesh and Central Africa. The project fits within the mission of YY Ventures as they are seeking to make investments in the region and expand their outreach to those communities.
I applied the skillsets that I acquired through the MBA program, specifically those from my entrepreneurship and innovation classes, which provided a foundation. I was able to apply the class concepts at YY Ventures during team pitches and while learning about the different sectors of investment.
It was challenging to learn about the ecosystem of another region without having direct exposure. The team at YY Ventures was supportive in this aspect and provided me with resources to further build on my knowledge. They gave me an insight into how things function on a day-to-day basis.
I had many key takeaways from the experience, one of which was my ability to develop a deeper understanding of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, ESG, and impact investing in developing countries.
