Internship Description
Jamie Landsman, ’20BUS MPH, interned with OnceCity Health, New York City’s largest Performing Provider System (PPS). Established by NYC Health and Hospitals, and the NY State Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment program, OneCity Health works to ensure care for all NYC residents, working with hundreds of community-based healthcare providers to engage patients and close care gaps. Jamie assisted in the development and prototyping of new care models and community partnerships. Later in the summer Jamie also interned with Quantified Ventures, an impact investing advisory firm that focuses on financing innovative and evidence-based environmental, health, and educational outcomes. Jamie worked with the Health and Human Services department to structure social impact investments for health systems, health plans, and service providers.
This summer I worked with Quantified Ventures, an outcomes-based capital firm focused on improving environmental and health outcomes. I worked on several projects that were focused on attracting impact capital to scaling health services. For example, I created a care model and implementation plan for services addressing homelessness, housing instability, and medical respite for a health payer’s Managed Medicaid population. This model is designed to create opportunity to attract impact services and scale a best-in-class model of care across the entire state.
My MBA was critical throughout my internship. I used modeling, data and analytics, and finance skills throughout my time at Quantified Ventures. These skills were helpful in building investing and implementation plans, as well as in my conversations with clients. I also used lessons from Organizational Change and Investing in Healthcare Ventures in designing my communication deliverables.
Quantified Ventures is a relatively new company operating in a burgeoning field. As such, I faced challenges typical in a fast-paced environment. However, this also meant that there were many opportunities for me to make an impact. I was fortunate to work with incredibly dedicated people who were not only invested in my success, but open to my ideas and input.
I left Quantified Ventures with a renewed belief in the role of impact capital. This work is not easy, but I believe impact investing holds a particular power capable of creating sustainable change in both environmental and healthcare work. During my time at Quantified Ventures I learned important skills around investing and stakeholder management. I also learned many lessons from watching an incredibly talented leadership team develop a company culture at a fast-growing startup. It was a privilege to work at Quantified Ventures, and I am so thankful to have worked with such passionate, generous, and insightful colleagues.
