Colleen
Galvin
Executive Director
and Co-Founder, MBAs4NYC
Colleen Galvin is
a seasoned business professional who brings a unique blend of nonprofit,
corporate and start-up experience to her leadership and development
role at MBAs4NYC.
Ms. Galvin started
the first two years of her career at the Manpower Demonstration Research
Corporation, a nonprofit public policy research firm, where she gained
a solid understanding of the challenges faced by nonprofit organizations,
and the power of cooperative public-private initiatives on economic
development. She then spent seven years in the financial services sector,
working at both Citibank and JPMorgan Chase in credit policy, product
marketing, portfolio management, and new channel development. Most recently,
Ms.Galvin held consulting and business development positions at technology
companies in the wireless and speech recognition software industries.
After September
11, 2001, Ms. Galvin volunteered as an advocate and caseworker for small
businesses in lower Manhattan, helping them to access assistance programs
in the wake of the attack on the World Trade Center. It was from this
experience that the idea for MBAs4NYC originated and the organization
was born.
Ms. Galvin earned
an M.B.A. in Finance/Marketing from New York University's Stern School
of Business and holds a B.S. in Mathematics/Computer Science from Seton
Hall University. Past relevant volunteer experience includes Business
Volunteers for the Arts, the American Red Cross local disaster relief
team, and the New York City Partnership's Restart Central program.
