Courtney
O’Malley
Vice President,
The Starr Foundation
Courtney O'Malley
is currently serving as Vice President with The Starr Foundation. Courtney
has worked in nonprofit organizations her entire career, including a
wide range of grant-making foundations. In 1986, she became the first
director of the Frances L. and Edwin L. Cummings Memorial Fund, a New
York City-based foundation that funds a range of social welfare and
health-related programs. She then worked for five years in the Children's
Program at the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation where she focused primarily
on helping federal, state, and local officials reform child welfare
policies. Prior to joining the Starr Foundation, Courtney served for
five years as Deputy Director of The Picower Foundation, a family philanthropy
that funds mostly educational programs and scientific research in New
York City and Palm Beach County, Florida. Between 1994 and 1997, Courtney
lived in Chicago and was the director of strategic planning and development
for the Family Resource Coalition, a national technical assistance,
advocacy, and membership organization for family support programs. Courtney
has provided consulting services on child welfare issues, family and
children's services, and philanthropy for a variety of clients including
Northwestern University's Children and Family Justice Center, Seedco,
and the Hasbro Children's Foundation. She recently served as a member
of the United Way of New York City's Community Agenda Task Force.
