The National Audubon
Society appointed Meeta Vyas as Vice President, Living Oceans Program
in August 2002. In the two years prior to that, Meeta served as Secretary
General & CEO of the Worldwide Fund for Nature in India (WWF-India),
guiding its 7 major nature conservation divisions, 30 branch offices
and a staff exceeding 300. Prior to her work in nature conservation,
Meeta spent more than 15 years in the U.S. Corporate sector, most recently
as CEO & Vice Chairman of Signature Brands ( a $280 million NASDAQ
company better known as "Mr. Coffee" and "Health-O-Meter"
which was acquired by Sunbeam) and General Manager, Range Products at
GE Appliances (a cooking products business with over $1 billion revenues,
6 national brands, and over 2000 employees). She has also worked for
McKinsey & Company, Fisher Brothers, and Exxon Chemical. Meeta graduated
from M.I.T. with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1980 and from Columbia
University with a M.B.A. in Finance in 1984.
