Speaker Biographies

Paul Oppold

Engagement Manager, McKinsey & Company

Paul Oppold is an Engagement Manager in McKinsey & Company’s New Jersey Office, where he has worked primarily in the areas of pharmaceutical and medical products. His recent experience includes:

  • A turnaround strategy and organization redesign study for a major pharmaceutical through a specific focus on attaining the industry’s best practices.
  • A strategic opportunities and product value proposition study for a European orthopaedic tissue engineering company.
  • A competitive benchmarking study for a global medical devices and electronics manufacturer.
  • A planning and distribution study of HIV-related drugs in Africa for a joint collaboration between UNAIDS, pharmaceutical companies, and local governments in Uganda.
  • A scientific advisory workshop on vaccinations for a global biological research and development company.
Prior to joining McKinsey, Mr. Oppold was employed by Medtronic in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he designed implantable drug pumps. Additionally, he was a summer associate in Boston Consulting Group’s Chicago Office during the summer of 1999.

Mr. Oppold has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Master’s degree in Biomechanical (orthopaedic) Engineering from University of Oxford.
